Specialty Technical Consultants, Inc. (STC) today announced the election of new company officers. STC Principal, Barbara Jo Ruble was elected President. Ms. Ruble has more than 25 years of experience helping corporations to develop, assess, and improve their EHS management systems and compliance programs. She is a Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP) and a Certified Professional Environmental Auditor (CPEA) for both ISO 14000/EMS and compliance auditing. Ms. Ruble replaces Randy Roig, PhD, President and co-founder of STC. Dr. Roig will continue with STC as a Principal.

STC Principal Carol J. Robinson, CIH, CSP was elected Vice President. Ms. Robinson first joined STC in 2002 and became an STC partner in 2008. Ms. Robinson's elevation to the vice-presidency strengthens the company's offerings in the field of Health and Safety. Joseph Cotier, CPEA, will continue as Secretary. He has been an STC partner since 2007 and also serves on the Board of Directors of The Auditing Roundtable. Melanie Powers-Schanbacher, CPEA will continue as the Chief Financial Officer. She has been with STC since 2004 and became a partner in 2007. In addition to her consulting practice, Melanie has overall responsibility for the EHS regulatory information guides that are authored by STC's professionals and published by Specialty Technical Publishers of Vancouver, BC, Canada.

STC will be offering a series of webinars in 2010; the first will be held on February 9 at 11 am Pacific ( 2 pm Eastern) and will cover recent changes to federal Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) planning requirements that are scheduled to take effect January 14, 2010. Our presenter will be Ms. Kathy McKinney-Tovar, author of the Oil and Petroleum sections of STP's Environmental Auditing: Federal Compliance Guide. According to Ms. McKinney-Tovar "these amendments include changes made to the definition of "facility" that may impact the applicability of the SPCC Rule to your facility. We will also cover the date that the SPCC Plan must be amended or prepared, and implemented."

STC's Curt Johnson is co-chairing the Gulf Coast 2010 Environmental Challenges and Innovations Conference presented by the Texas Association of Environmental Professionals. To be held Thursday, February 11, 2010, in Houston, Texas, this one-day event will provide a forum for environmental professionals in industry, consulting/service companies, government and academia to share technical presentations with their peers.

Five concurrent sessions will be offered addressing environmental topics from air to wetlands. An Ethics session will be offered as well as a number of workshops offering in-depth coverage of subjects like NEPA, Vapor Intrusion, TRPP Release Determination and Sustainability in the Maritime Industry. Carlos Rubinstein, the newest Commissioner for the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality will provide the keynote address. During the luncheon, TAEP will present their awards for Environmental Professional of the Year and Regulator of the Year.

Mr. Johnson points out that "After the success of last year's event with over 300 participants and more than 40 exhibitors, we believe that the conference will once again be well-attended by the environmental community that it is designed to benefit."
